Once again I would like to show another view taken of a perfect delivery, which is halted in mid delivery to show the actual release point of the bowl. There are three main factors to be considered in the delivery of the bowl. One: The condition of the green, as to whether it is wet, dry, hard, or soft, and texture of the green it self. Two: Allowing for the conditions in ‘One.’ Your aim, whether it is forehand, or a backhand shot. Three: The weight behind your delivery, to ensure that it reaches the desired position in the forming of the head around the jack.

I know this may seem quite a lot for the novice bowler to take in, but with time and practice it will all fall into place. The club has coaches to guide your every step of the way, as well to answer any questions you may have.

One of the many questions that are asked by potential Lawn Bowlers to any club, are what are my outlay costs? First off most clubs, and that includes the Victoria West Lawn Bowling Club, have for the Novice player, a selection of club bowls of varying size and weight that you may use, before making up your mind what size and weight suits you.

Quite often second-hand sets of bowls come on the market for sale, often with a carrying case as shown in the photo above. At very reasonable prices.

The photo above is of what is considered to be regulation Lawn Bowling Shoes. This ruling, at the present time of this publication, is now under review by Bowls Canada. We will publish the new ruling as soon as we have it officially. The reason of the smooth sole of course is to protect the surface of the green.
